Manufacturing is all about reducing costs while offering the highest quality product possible. In many cases, there are several ways to produce the same product. Injection molding is one such method. Injection molding is a manufacturing technology that allows the creation of a part by injecting molten material into a mold where it takes the desired form. After cooling and solidifying, the product can be removed from the mold, ready to ship. Also interested in sheet metal fabrication services or CNC machining services?  Sheet metal fabrication is more cost-effective than CNC machining when it comes to metal components with uniform wall thickness. Injection molding can be great for manufacturers and buyers alike. The benefits of the process translate well to the bottom lines of both sides as long as some criteria are met. Because of the nature of the process, there are no unsightly seams or unnecessary jagged protrusions on the items created. This results in a smooth and appealing final product. As long as the cost of machine set up and mold creation are met, injection molding is a method that achieves high productivity. The manufacturer should place a minimum amount of units in o...

Renishaw to showcase smart technologies at EMO Hannover

Renishaw says it will be showcasing its smart technologies and intelligent process control solutions across three stands at EMO Hannover 2019 in Germany, 16–21 September 2019. These include high-speed, multi-sensor measurement systems for CMMs; high-accuracy and high-speed products for machine tool probing; flexible shopfloor gauging systems; new calibration and encoder innovations for machine builders; and new additive manufacturing solutions. “Although ‘smart manufacturing’ is being widely discussed as a current theme, Renishaw has been evolving and implementing smart factory principles successfully for over 25 years across our own manufacturing operations,” stated Paul Maxted, director of industrial metrology applications at Renishaw. “Trade fairs like EMO Hannover 2019 represent an ideal forum for us to share our own experiences and insights with international visitors from across a variety of industries, and to reinforce our role as a partner for innovative manufacturing.” The ‘Metrology and Quality Assurance zone’, located within Hall 6, will be home to Renishaw’s largest stand (stand D48). Here, visitors will be able to see Renishaw’s REVO 5-axis measurement system in act...
